DAY 1

Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by a Wild Frontiers representative and transferred to Hotel No.5, or similar, for overnight. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to explore the town of Entebbe.

DAY 2

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This morning’s flight on a light aircraft to Kihihi airstrip takes just over an hour. Transfer through local villages and along mountain roads to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a World Heritage site (a drive of +- 90 mins).

 

Considered the most diverse forest in Uganda, Bwindi is one of the richest ecosystems in East Africa and home to over 120 mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies and 160 species of trees.

 

The park contains an estimated one half of the world’s population of the endangered Mountain Gorilla, making it an extremely valuable conservation site. Overnight Buhoma Lodge.

DAY 3

Gorilla-Tracking

Today, embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trek to encounter mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—an experience that is exhilarating, humbling, and unforgettable. Led by expert guides, you’ll navigate dense rainforest and steep mountain slopes in a trek that can range from 45 minutes to eight hours at high altitudes. While sightings aren’t guaranteed, success rates exceed 95%, making the effort truly worthwhile.

 

Permits are typically secured for Buhoma & Ruhija, with some treks requiring a short road transfer—offering an opportunity to explore more of the region. Depending on availability, your tracking experience may take place on

Day 3 or 4.

 

After your trek, return to Buhoma Lodge for a complimentary massage or explore the local Bwindi community.

DAY 4

Exploring Bwindi

Guests with pre-purchased permits will embark on a second gorilla trek, while others can explore Bwindi through optional activities.

Optional Extras:

 

Enjoy a forest walk with expert guides, spotting birds and monkeys in the lush rainforest, or take a village community walk, visiting local schools, an orphanage, or a banana brewing demonstration. For a deeper cultural experience, join a Batwa Cultural Encounter, where you’ll meet Batwa elders, learn survival skills, and discover their rich traditions.

DAY 5

Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning, depart Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park (2–3 hours), stopping en route at a community project near Ishasha Village. Nestled in the Great Rift Valley, Ishasha is home to diverse wildlife, including elephants, leopards, hippos, buffalo, and Uganda kob.

 

The highlight of the region is its tree-climbing lions, often seen lounging in fig trees. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, searching for these iconic predators along with large herds of buffalo and elephants. Enhance your stay with an optional bush sundowner or bush breakfast in a stunning wilderness setting.

DAY 6

Return to Entebbe

Transfer to Kihihi airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe.
